Career Tips

So finally you have your HS diploma and start looking for a better job.
In this section, we have gathered some useful tips that will help you on your way to success and appreciation. Here they are:

Tip 1: Ensure that your resume is well written – a good resume is your definite pass to the job interview!

Tip 2: Plan ahead for the interview – Try to learn something about your potential employer and the position available. Think of possible questions. Review your work experiences and think how they will be an asset to the position you have applied for. Figures and facts are always helpful!

Tip 3: Be sure of yourself – and be ready to answer the question WHY a company would benefit from hiring you instead of a few hundreds of other individuals who are courting their attention. The answer does exist!

Tip 4: Never stop learning – It is important to learn something new every day. If you do not improve your current skills, you are probably happy with your current situation. Nothing will change until you start changing it!

Tip 5: Identify what you are looking for – if you are just looking for “something better”, you’ll probably fail. You should know exactly what you need and why – these questions are crucial for both you and your potential employer.

Tip 6: Be patient and learn from your mistakes – there are no failures, just experiences. Success doesn’t come immediately; you should learn from your mistakes and never give up.

Tip 7: Be realistic – You should find a golden mean between being too modest and too ambitious. You should know your strong points and realize your weaknesses. Apply for a job that requires most of your skills and reveals minimum of your limitations.

Tip 8: Remember: first impression really matters – from the first contact, you will be evaluated on your background, education, trustworthiness, enthusiasm, interest in the position, etc. You should wear appropriate clothes, be punctual, positive and polite.

Tip 9: Rely on yourself – formal education gives you a chance to get attention. It is your personality that lets you win!
